Reflection:
Although the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s were the worst time for most women in America, due to the expectation of them being limited to being an everyday housewife, including cooking, cleaning, shopping and all other house chores, there is still an underlying thought that women shouldn't be able to have corporate jobs or jobs at all, but should stick to having a full time job of keeping their husband and children happy. This article came up with the top nine things that every woman should do to keep her husband happy, which include making the night all about his happiness, always having dinner ready when he gets home, cleaning and more. When reading this article, this stuck out to be in relation to the Jack Kerouac quote "this is the story of America. Everybody's doing what they think they're supposed to do" because although women are now a very crucial part of the government and all organizations and corporations, many people believe that women are "supposed" to clean and cook and do all of the housework, because that's what happens- men make money and women make the home. For many people's mindset, that is the "story" of America and this is what our society should stick to- even almost sixty years later.
